 How to Prepare for the TOPIK Exam: A Step-by-Step Study Plan

Preparing for TOPIK without a plan often means wasted hours. Here's the structured approach we use with TODDLE students in Hetauda.

Step 1: Know Your Starting Level 

Take a placement test before choosing a course. Studying TOPIK II material when you haven't mastered TOPIK I basics is the most common mistake we see.

 Step 2: Build Vocabulary Daily 

Aim for 20–30 new words a day, reviewed with spaced repetition rather than one-time memorization. TODDLE students use the Memrise app for guided daily vocabulary drills alongside classroom learning.

Step 3: Master Grammar in Context 

Don't just memorize grammar patterns — practice them in full sentences. Each class session should end with sentence-production practice, not just pattern recognition.

Step 4: Practice Reading With a Timer

TOPIK reading sections are time-pressured. Practice under real exam timing from week one, not just in the final month.

Step 5: Train Listening With Real Audio

Use past-paper audio and simulate exam noise/pace conditions rather than slowed-down learning audio.

Step 6: For TOPIK II — Practice Writing Weekly 

Writing is graded on structure, grammar accuracy, and argument coherence. One graded essay per week, with instructor feedback, produces faster improvement than daily unsupervised writing.

Step 7: Take Regular Mock Tests

Mock testing under real exam conditions is what actually predicts your score — not chapter quizzes alone.
